Jack Briner holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Duke University and has additional graduate course work in computer security from Purdue University. He has taught at UNC-Greensboro, University of South Carolina and Charleston Southern University. Most recently he was the Chairperson of Computer and Information Sciences at Charleston Southern University. He has written a number of scholarly papers and written a chapter about Unix ™ shell scripting.
In the 1980’s, he wrote PC game software for a number of different machines. In the 1990’s and early 2000’s, he was a technical manager at Nortel Networks and was responsible for the architecture and performance of long–distance software.
He has experience with computer infrastructure including security, networking, VoIP, hardware and system administration.
He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the Association of Computer Machinery. He currently is the Chairman of the Computer, Communications and Power Society Chapter of Coastal South Carolina.
