What is a virus?

• Viruses are modifications to software which are designed to do harm to your system, get information from you, extort money from you, or use your system resources.
• A virus enters your system because you downloaded software (or even simple files) which contain code that does a bit more than expected. It is relatively easy for this software to mutate itself and attach to other programs, making it difficult to catch.

Symptoms

• Anti-virus software reports being unable to remove a virus
• Machine runs slowly
• Internet runs slowly
• Unable to connect to the Internet
• Unable to connect to a website

Software Programs available to thwart viruses:

• AVG
• Norton
• Macaffe
• Avast

What Anti-virus programs do:

• In most cases, this antivirus software will detect problems during a file download.
• However, new variants of viruses occur daily and may not be in the virus database when you download the file.
• The next line of defense is a regular scan of your compter with the latest antivirus software. If a virus enters your system before it is in the database, it will be caught as soon as it is in the database.

• If you need us to remove the virus by hand, you can expect a repair to run our minimum of two hours.
• However, we will also give your machine a partial tune up.
